BEE

WITH YOU

COMFORT FOR CANCER

THE MISSION

Create a small tool of comfort for those moving through cancer treatment - chemo and radiation. To remind them of the connection with their greater human community as well as the community of nature all around them.

THE GOAL

To have people who crotchet & knit come together to create & donate
as many little stuffed bees as they desire.

These bees would serve as a coping/stress tool. And as a small companion for people diagnosed with cancer. To bring with them into their radiation, chemo treatments & other cancer treatments.

These bees would be offered to people of all ages & genders.
(We want to normalize all people having tools to cope with the inevitable stress of these treatments.)

OUR STORY / OUR WHY

On May 5th 2023 Paul Marshall, Dad, was rushed to the hospital while having a seizure and after lots of testing and scans was diagnosed with a primary brain tumor. Which was then diagnosed as Glioblastoma, a type of brain cancer.

Paul spent days in the ICU and went through a 6 hour open & awake brain surgery. During this surgery Paul had a vision of being swarmed by bees and knew that they were with him throughout the process. Next steps were to go through chemo and radiation treatment in order to attempt to stop the cancer.

Throughout this entire process, Paul carried with him a tiny stuffed crochet bee, which was gifted to him by his twin nieces. To remind him of his connection to his bees and to the greater community around him.

We are so happy that Paul has defied ALL odds and is still with us today! The tumor has shrunken with all the treatment including lots of natural treatments. He is passing out crochet bees to cancer patients and to others to raise awareness about aphasia. Which we are moving through now.

(Aphasia is a communication disorder that affects a person's ability to speak, understand language, read, or write.
It typically results from damage to the brain, often due to a stroke, head injury, or neurological conditions like glioblastoma.)
